In honor of Tom’s friend and mentor, Ray Marler, former owner & operator of I-55 Raceway who passed away today, he decided to turn a few laps on the track. We just want to address a few comments made about our 2026 schedule. As longtime track promoters, we do not just select random dates to put a race on and try to make it work. There is a lot of discussion that goes on with sanctioning groups and tracks within our area. It does not benefit any of us to put on a race and not have a full field of cars or to choose the wrong date. Many tracks have cut back on the number of events for various reasons. We chose to go with special events 25 years ago for those keeping count. It was our way of keeping the gates open and seems to work for us. Car counts are also another topic of concern for all track promoters. We know what type of cars are in our area and trying to bring in other classes such as late models is a challenge even for the more popular sanctioning groups. They know they will have to have a strong following of cars to make it work. Think about how many are actually located close to us - there aren't very many. The Flo Night race wasn't scheduled for this reason along with the date being what it is. Maybe it will work out another time - just not in 2026.
If you are wanting to watch multiple classes of cars, then you should probably support other tracks who can accommodate them. Our pit area is limited on space and many nights we are forced to park them outside the gate which is not an ideal situation. The haulers have grown in size which means more room is needed to park them. It is a problem we have not been able to solve but will continue to discuss.
For those of you who no longer feel it is worth it to purchase a season reserved seat then our suggestion is that you no longer do so. Please stop complaining about it since it is your choice to continue or not. No one is forcing you to purchase them.
This post in no way means that we do not appreciate all of you who continue to show up and enjoy the racing. The negative comments posted are hurtful to us and we want you to understand how much the track means to our family. We will keep plugging away as long as we are able. There are a lot of tracks for sale or looking for someone to lease them. A lot of opportunities for someone who feels they can do this better or want to do it differently.
