King of Indiana Sprint Series Set for Sunday

Posted May 23, 2013

May 20, 2013 – The annual Memorial Day holiday is this coming weekend,
and Hoosiers will be busy. With only three races remain in the 2013 King
of Indiana Sprint Series, Sunday's 30-lap feature at Tri-State Speedway
promises to be huge. While Bedford's Brady Short is in the driver's
seat, so to speak, in the point standings, his advantage isn't at all
comfortable. He knows that several of the area's hottest drivers are
also ready to claim the King's crown.

Short holds a 41-point lead over Dave Darland, who is coming off a big
win at Bloomington Speedway last weekend. Third in points is Robert
Ballou, who won the thrilling KISS feature at Kokomo Speedway. Just
behind them are Hunter Schuerenberg and Kevin Thomas Jr., the latter
coming off a streak of three consecutive USAC wins, including a big
victory two weeks ago at Tri-State.

But Short didn't coast into the KISS lead. He earned it the right way,
by winning two of the first three KISS races run. With everything
meshing smoothly around his new ride in Cam Pottorff's DRC, he is as hot
as any of those other drivers. And one advantage is that he can say that
he already owns a KISS win at Tri-State Speedway, scored during his 2009
KISS championship run. The other KISS winners at Tri-State, Jon
Stanbrough, Jeff Bland Jr., Daron Clayton and Justin Marvel, are not
contending for this year's point title.

Sunday's event will be co-sanctioned by the busy Midwest Sprint Car
Series, where Kevin Thomas Jr. currently holds the point lead.
Tri-State's modifieds are also on the program. The race track is located
on US 41, 16 miles north of Evansville, in Haubstadt, Indiana. Hot laps
are scheduled for 6:30, with racing at 7:30. General admission tickets
are $20, tickets for students 13 to 18 are just $15, and ages 12 and
under are admitted free. Pit passes are $30.
