Haubstadt, IN - April 09, 2018 - The World of Outlaws Sprints will be making an appearance at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday evening April 14th.  This special event will  usher in racing at the track for 2018.  The complete schedule offers a dozen different events  The Outlaws will undoubtedly set the stage for an exciting season at the quarter mile Haubstadt oval.

Qualifications will follow hot laps for the sprints which will begin at 6 P.M. The high powered winged sprints are expected to be circling the track in the 11 to 12 second range.  The track record is still held by Sammy Swindell at 11.11 seconds.  That amazingly quick lap has withstood the test of time for 13 seasons.  The quickest laps during the last two years were turned at just over 12 seconds.  Brady Bacon was quickest in 2017 and won his heat race.  However, Parker Price-Miller captured the feature that night.

World of Outlaws features at Tri-State Speedway have produced wins for 16 different drivers.  The most recent winners include David Gravel in 2016 and Paul McMahon who put a streak of two wins together in 2014 and 2015.

Donny Schatz leads the WoO points standings over Sheldon Haudenschild, Shane Stewart, Brad Sweet, and Jason Johnson.  Schatz’s win last weekend in the Desert Shootout in Arizona was his fourth in World of Outlaw events so far in 2018.  That feature had four lead changes!  Donny Schatz drives for Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing.  The eight time WoO Champion has over 200 victories to his credit.

Second generation driver Sheldon Haudenschild is competing in his second full season with the Outlaws.  Haudenschild already has three wins to his credit.  Two other drivers have picked up victories racing out in the West with the WoO Series this Spring.  They are Cory Eliason and Aaron Reutzel.

The Outlaws will be pulling into Haubstadt on the second day of a weekend swing that will have begun Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois.  The race at Tri-State Speedway is the first of only three appearances the World of Outlaws will make to the Hoosier state in 2018.  This is the one race that serves as one if not the closest opportunities for all Tri-State area race fans to see the “Fastest Show on Dirt!”

The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will also be racing on April 14th.  The modified class feature will pay $1,000 to win.  A full field of strong contenders is expected to kick off the season.  Zach Fair was the feature winner on opening night at the speedway in 2017.

However, Trent Young and Dave Beck took three features each to lead all drivers.  Stan Beadles, Levi Kissinger, and Clay Lane also visited victory lane.  Now a new season is at hand and there will be other modified race teams working to find that winning edge as the green flag flies once again.

General admission for this special event is $30 for adults.  A ticket for children ages 6-12 will cost $15.  Children 5 years old or under will be admitted free.  Pit passes are $40.  The track’s ticket information number is 812-768-5995.  Race time is at 7:30 P.M.
