Haubstadt, IN - April 19, 2017 - The annual World of Outlaws Sprints appearance at Tri-State Speedway will be in April this season.  The Outlaws will be at Haubstadt on Saturday evening April 29th.   These winged creations are expected to be circling the track in the 12 second range.  Last year’s feature winner David Gravel set the fastest time for the night last May with a 12.155 second lap around the ¼ mile oval.  If speed is your thing, arrive early and see if the track record can be broken.  That one lap record at 11.11 seconds is currently held by Sammy Swindell.

World of Outlaws features at Tri-State Speedway has produced 15 different winning drivers.  Steve Kinser’s 8 victories over the years since 1979 is a mark that will likely stand for some time.  There are just three other drivers with more than one or two WoO wins at Haubstadt.  Paul McMahan put a streak of two wins together in 2014 and 2015.  McMahon ranks in the top ten in WoO points for 2017 as of April 15.  He has 7 top ten finishes to his credit.

Donny Schatz currently leads the WoO points standings over David Gravel, Brad Sweet, Jason Johnson, and Daryn Pittman.  Schatz also leads the pack with 6 feature wins.  Gravel has 4 victories and is just 44 points off of the leader’s pace.  Those totals are with three races on the schedule yet before their upcoming Haubstadt appearance.
There have been 7 different feature winners in 17 completed events to start the season.  Other winning performers include two time victors Jason Johnson and Brad Sweet plus single victors Logan Schuchart, Brian Brown, and Rico Abreu.

The Outlaws will be pulling into Haubstadt on the second day of a weekend swing that will have begun Friday at Plymouth Speedway in Northern Indiana.  The race at Tri-State Speedway is the second of only three appearances the World of Outlaws will make to the Hoosier state in 2017.  This season the tour has swept across the country from Florida to Texas, Nevada, California, and Arizona before heading to Arkansas and Missouri, and then back to the Midwest.  This is the one race that serves as one of the closest opportunities for all Tri-State area race fans to see the “Fastest Show on Dirt!”

The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will also be racing on April 29th.  The modified class feature will pay $1,000 to win.  A full field of equally strong competitors is expected.  Zach Fair was the feature winner on opening night at the speedway.  Trent Young was a close second.  Everett Bradham, who has a vast amount of experience at the track, finished third.   The veterans not only challenge each other week after week but fend off the efforts of newcomers trying their luck at Haubstadt.

General admission for this special event is $30 for adults.  A ticket for children ages 6-12 will cost $15.  Children 5 years old or under will be admitted free.  Pit passes are $40.  The track’s ticket information number is 812-768-5995.  Race time is at 7:30 P.M. in the Central Time Zone.
