NOTICE - CHANGES ADDRESSED FOR THE OPEN WHEEL MODIFIEDS
Haubstadt, IN - April 3, 2017. The opening night’s program on April 15th for the Tri-State Speedway will include the first of 11 appearances of the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds. The management at the speedway would like to acknowledge that there have been some changes to rules and regulations that drivers in this class need to be aware of before arriving at the track to race.
This season a DIRTcar Racing Membership will be required for all sanctioned events. This notification was included in a statement released March 2, 2017 by the sanctioning body which includes the UMP Modified division. Tracks must comply or be at risk of violating the sanction agreement. The membership for drivers to compete is thus mandatory. These memberships do qualify drivers for regional and national points plus insurance and appeal benefits. Other benefits include discounted entry fees and/or discounted pit entry fees at selected events. The cost for a one year membership is $125. For additional information visit www.DIRTcarMembers. com.
In addition, the speedway now uses transponders to time and score the modified class. To have this procedure organized before hot laps begin, it is necessary to establish a cut-off time of 5:45 P.M. for the pill draw. Drivers who are late and miss the pill draw will not get a qualifying time for use in setting the lineups. Transponders are provided and available from the track officials. Drivers are also expected to have their own RACEceivers to use in receiving one way communication from race control!
Owners and drivers are reminded that the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will also encounter a changeover to the use of new tires. The M-30s and M-60 tire will become the only available tire at or near March 1, 2017. These new tires feature the same construction and compounds as existing tires but have an upgraded chain-link pattern. NO GROOVING will be allowed on any tire and SIPING of the new tires will be legal only with the M-60 tire. The A-40s and H-40 will no longer be built after March 1, 2017. To deplete inventory, racers can use all existing A-40s and the H-40 tires throughout 2017.
