“THE MEMORIAL WEEKEND CLASSIC”
Haubstadt, IN - May 24, 2016 - Tri-State Speedway will present its
annual “Memorial Weekend Classic” on Sunday night May 29th. The
Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will headline a program
including the United Midwestern Promoters Open Wheel Modifieds and
the Midwest Mini-Sprint Association. With the combined effort, the
three classes of race cars will provide the first triple header of
the season at the 1/4 mile oval.
At last year’s “Memorial Weekend Classic” at Tri-State Speedway,
Brady Short edged Kyle Cummins in a side by side dash to the finish
line. Robert Ballou was third. The 2014 MWC race winner Jeff Bland
Jr. was fourth. Carson Short finished fifth.
The UMP Modifieds will be competing for the third time this season.
Car counts have been high and drivers have displayed some very fast
race cars. Winners so far this season include Levi Kissinger and
Mark Lamont. Matt Lane and Josh Harris have finished in the top five
both nights. Trent Young took last year’s Memorial Weekend feature.
The Midwest Mini-Sprint Association will make its first appearance
this season. Tri-State Speedway is one of ten tracks they compete at
this season. Rod Henning and Danny Fitgerald
have early season wins elsewhere. Andy Bradley is the defending MMSA
Champion. Scott Bradley took the points lead as 2016 got underway.
Sunday night hot laps and the new group qualifying are set for 6:30
and racing will follow at 7:30 P.M. Central Time. It’s RACE time
with three times the excitement!
