THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINTS
WILL RACE AT TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY MAY 14
Haubstadt, IN - May 9, 2016 - The annual World of Outlaws appearance
at Tri-State Speedway will return to Saturday night this season. The
Outlaws will be at Haubstadt on the evening of May 14th. Heat race
action begins at 7:30 Central Time. Qualifications usually get
underway about 6:30 P.M.. Records indicate that the present track
record was set in 2004 by Sammy Swindell with a lap of 11.11 seconds
around the quarter mile oval.
The Outlaws will be on the second day of a weekend swing that will
have begun Friday at Plymouth Speedway in Northern Indiana. The race
at Tri-State Speedway is the second of only four appearances the
World of Outlaws will make to the Hoosier state in 2016. In all the
season will include over 90 races in nine months across 25 states and
Canada. This event is one of the closest opportunities for all
Tri-State area race fans to see the Fastest Show on Dirt!
World of Outlaws racing at Tri-State Speedway has produced fourteen
different winning drivers since the first race to be held there in
1979. Steve Kinser has 8 victories to his credit and leads in career
WoO victories at Haubstadt. Other drivers with three or more
Tri-State victories include Sammy Swindell (5 wins), Craig Dollansky
(4 wins), and Mark Kinser (3 wins).
Paul McMahan won last year’s World of Outlaws feature event at
Tri-State Speedway. He also won the WoO feature at Haubstadt the
season before. His presence in victory lane stands at two in a row.
A third win in a row would be a boost this season. Although McMahon
is in the top ten in points he is winless on the tour so far in 2016.
Brad Sweet currently leads the WoO points standings over Donny Schatz
and Shane Stewart. Sweet and Schatz have both collected 5 feature
wins in the 2016 campaign. Winners abound! Nine different drivers
have visited victory lane in the 22 races held so far. Daryn Pittman
and Joey Saldana have each earned three victories. Shane Stewart and
Kerry Madsen have two wins each. The Mad Man won both features held
this past weekend at Eldora Speedway.
The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will also be racing on May 14th. The
modified feature will pay $1,000 to win. A field of strong
competitors is expected. Levi Kissinger was the feature winner on
opening night at the speedway. Zach Fair and Clay Lane ran second
and third. With the April 30th event being rained out, that one
feature has been the only show held at Haubstadt so far in 2016.
There were over 30 open wheel modified cars in competition.
General admission for this special event is $30 for adults. A
child’s ticket for those children ages 6-12 will cost $15. Children
5 years old or under will be admitted free. Pit passes are $40. The
track’s ticket information number is 812-768-5995.
